Hello everyone.

Joined the forum and am amazed at the amount of info available for consumption.
Little info about me.
Live in the DC/metro area.
Mechanical Engineer working for a large DOD contractor.
Work in our "PROTOTYPE FAB SHOP".
Have full run of the fabrication facility:
5 axis mills--waterjets-TIG/MIG--sheet metal shears/brakes CNC--and my favorite 3D printer.
3D CAD software----Inventor and SolidWorks.

6 car 1300 sq. ft. garage at home--with 12 foot ceilings--doing my lift research now.

Car guy from my early teen years.
Have owned 73 Z/28.
Built and raced 8 sec drag car.
Currently crew chief for a 7 sec drag car.
Current car is a 2011 CTS-V.
Golf when I can fit it in--at least 3-4 times month--12 handicap.

Starting to gather info for an upcoming build. At least a year away from getting serious and putting together a REAL BUDGET.
Have always been interested in the ROADSTER.
Now leaning towards the Type 65 Coupe.
Need to find some local members and see if I fit---I'm 6-2@ 230 lbs.

Leaning towards a "COMPLETE" build with the usual "MODS".
With my fab skills---looking forward to putting my TWIST on things---looking to fab/build custom parts.

Thanks for any tips and encouragement along the way.

New guy here too. Just saw your post and thought I'd try to help out. I'm in Leesburg, VA. Go over and check out Capital Area Cobra Club (http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/index.php). Great bunch of folks. Looks of FFR people there with both Coupes and Roadsters that I am sure would let you try them on for size. I have been a member for 19 years.

Welcome to the Forum I think your going to like it here.

With the third gen 65 coupe, which they made larger, you should be able to fit into it without problems.

Have you decided yet what type of build you want this one to be? With your fab skills this should be one heck of build.

I'm hoping to start the process in June. :-)
