Hey everyone!

Been lurking here for the better part of 2 years now on and off and decided it was time to join. Finally purchased a house and expecting a daughter (first kid) in March! Figured in the next 2 to 3 years I'll be in the position to order a kit and started the overall planning for one of two builds. I've been stuck between a nice Coupe with the classic history and American V8 or building an 818C with 13b rotary to get my Lotus feel and engine I've always loved (how do you not love something unique that sounds like an F1 car?). My father in law has a Cobra by another manufacturer and while its certainly a excellent car, being in NC between the heat, random rain showers and humidity the enclosed styles with AC would be a luxury the wife would appreciate much more.

Looking forward to participating in the forum and anyone local-ish needing a hand (or wanting lunch and has a coupe/818) is welcome to contact me! I'm a mechanical engineer and have been rebuilding dirtbikes/quads/etc. since I was 14. Absolutely love working on anything.

Welcome to the group. We recently moved to Southport, NC. Which part of east NC are you?

I just got my FFR '65 roadster on the road after 10 years and headed toward bodywork and paint in the March/April timeline.

Welcome to the forums from another mechanical engineer, gear-head and "neighbor." We live just South of Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet. Good luck with your planning and preparations. There's much fun in building, modifying and designing these cars to make them truly yours, and it's a great way to learn a lot as well. These builds can get pleasantly addictive for technical brains. You'll learn a lot and your skills will expand. You're tool box will get bigger also (one of my favorite parts, LOL). If you're in the area, look us up. 'Always happy to meet other enthusiasts.

Thank you both! Very nice sounding Cobra GWL!

I'm just southeast of Raleigh by Wilson NC. We do visit Myrtle occasionally so I may let you know when we head down next (likely wont be until next year). Between Paul's builds, Canadian818's rotary and Aquillen's custom touches I have a lot of motivation.
