Things are getting close and the wait has been killing me!

I ordered everything back in October. We ordered the Mk4 complete kit. We ordered the engine from BluePrint. We got the 347 with EFI and TKO-600.

I am building it with my brother (I'm glad I got the COVID vaccine because it makes me feel a little better about heading to his house during the pandemic). We are building it at his house so everything is to be delivered there.

The rear end arrived 3 days ago, the engine arrived yesterday, and the kit's completion date is today. Stewart Transport said they will be loading up kits on Wednesday and they will be loading our kit as well (assuming it is completed). Tentative delivery date is February 3rd assuming the stars align and the weather cooperates.

My brother sent me about a thousand pictures of the engine. The Dyno came in at 420 hp and 435 ft lbs of torque. I have been reading and re-reading the build manual, the engine install instructions, the EFI wiring, and hundreds of build threads. I can't wait to start.

We also bought replacement valve covers and air filter for a little more bling.

I work shift work and I have Jan 28 - Feb 8 off. Our current plan is for me to arrive at my brothers house (about a 4.5 hour drive) a day or two before the kit arrives. We will build the body buck, replace the valve covers, and start prepping the rear axle for brakes while waiting for the kit. We are pretty excited. This is just like Christmas!

Enjoy some pictures of our engine. I know you have all seen it before, but if you are like me you don't mind looking at more engine pictures!

Welcome to the build process! In your pictures there looks to be a shield between the distributor and throttle body EFI. You say it has EFI, which one did they provide? And do they say what the shield is for?

Congrats! Is FF really that far out on delivery dates these days? Considering adding to the collection with a truck, but damn.

The engine is at my brother's house 300 miles away, so I have only been able to see it through these pictures. I'll answer as best as I can.

I ordered it with the Holley Sniper EFI. When I ordered the engine back in October I was given a link to the manual for the 4150 Holley Sniper EFI. I can't look at the engine to confirm since it is 300 miles away, but that is what should be on it. This EFI has the ECU mounted directly on the throttle body. I assume the shield is to direct RF interference from the distributor away from the ECU.

Yes, the lead time was that long for me.

From the day I ordered to the scheduled completion date was almost 14 weeks. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it is completed and will be loaded on Stewart's truck on Wednesday as scheduled!

From my understanding, COVID has slowed down FFR's suppliers and shipping, so it is longer than normal.

From the day I ordered the BluePrint engine to completion was about 12 weeks. Delivery was about a week later.

I keep telling myself that waiting a few months longer than I hoped isn't a big deal. I have been dreaming about this build for about 15 years and doing serious research for 5 years. A few months is nothing compared to that!

But these past few weeks have felt so darn long!

You will be happy with your engine choice. I have used that 347 several times with great results.

What color did Blueprint paint the block? I have the same package on order and was curious what the color would be. Thanks in advance. SScott

Remember to do a detailed inventory when your kit arrives...
It will make you familiar with the parts while helping you identify the items that are back-ordered...
Consider making a copy of the inventory list and attach a copy of each sheet to the corresponding box where those parts are located...
This will help you find the parts at every phase of your build.

When you order, you specify what color you want.

We didn't ask them to change the color of the block. Ours is blue like the web page.

Thanks I have a 427w and added a sniper. It was recommended that I keep all of the higher voltage wires away from the ECU. Looks like blueprint possibly has figured out a shield for this too. Once you get into it more and find this is the case, I would like more detail like a part number from them.

I'll look when I get to my brother's house in a few weeks.

A quick search found this throttle body shield. I don't have experience with the vendor, but this is essentially what is on my engine.

I took Steve's advice on this and has been VERY helpful. Also your POL sheet is gonna drive you insane LOL! It will guarantee you will not follow the build manual page by page. You will be jumping around a bit but that really makes it exciting :)

Yes, the POL is going to drive me nuts, especially since I have 2-3 weeks of time off in the next 6 weeks that I can spend on the car. Not having everything will be rough!

I think I'll survive, somehow...

Same, ordered mine on Oct 31st and expected completion is next Sat. What state are you in that delivery from MA will just be a week?

I'm in Colorado. I was surprised they said TENTATIVELY a week after pickup if it is loaded this week. But he said the trailer had only a few before me and in a straight line. He said it was pretty crazy after my house for this trailer.

I haven't heard anything from Stewart, so I don't know if my car was loaded yet.

I also wanted to clarify that Stewart said that everything has to line up perfect to have it delivered in a week. He did say it could be longer.

Yeah, I figure 2 weeks or a month for me in WA, I'll find out next week!

the waiting is the hardest part. Stewart driver called me the night before deliver to tell me he was stuck in a snow storm outside of Buffalo, NY and had to postpone delivery by a day. the only problem is that I had taken delivery day off of work and had to carve out time the following day to leave work and accept the delivery.

Do yourself a favor and flush your engine before installing it! Mine sat for a few months and after filling it the first time with coolant, it was full of rust from the water left after the dyno run at BPE. I'd flush and fill with anti-freeze if it's going to be sitting for a while.

Thank you for the tip! I will do that.
