I’ll start with thanking my wife for supporting me throughout this journey. Her encouragement and tolerance of my “obsession” has been unshakable. Thanks to the forum members that answered my many questions. Most were answered by simply researching the posts from the “senior” members. (Jeff Kleiner, Da Bat, Papa, GoDadGo, etc.) The “library” that you have created is invaluable. You answered so many of my questions without even knowing that you did. Factory Five should put you on the payroll!
I told myself that I would not get too detailed, would not “write a book” or post too many pictures but it looks like I am; indulge me. I attended the build school in June 2018 and took delivery of my complete kit on August 6, 2018. I was in Missouri at the time. My completion date (I know, it’s never complete) was January 2, 2021. I am in Georgia now. Moving a partially complete car, tools, air compressors, work benches, etc. was no fun! Life does not stop just because you are working on a project; new jobs, relocations, family illnesses, etc. all still happen.
Owning one of these roadsters has always been on my bucket list. I love the car but, little did I know, that building the car would be just as rewarding. “Built, not bought” has a deeper meaning after you have built one. Those that have completed a build, know. To those still working on your build, stay the course. To those debating whether to order a kit and wondering if you can do it; you can. I highly recommend jumping in. It’s quite a journey.
