Hi everyone,
Just curious if anyone has used one of these on their short block and does it fit under the hood? I am thinking of doing a 351W 427 and really like the look of this.
I am interested in an engine that looks like this!140757

Lots of people have used them. They fit just fine.

I use quite a few of those and am a dealer for Borla. They fit fine under the hood of a Roadster or coupe. You can see quite a few over on my FB page. Please feel free to call me with questions.

I am very glad someone is asking this question. I joined a few days ago and I had the same thought on a Daytona build. I was looking at 427 but would like to get a Borla stack as well. I was concerned because I hear the Daytona coupe sometimes requires modification to the hood to fit some configurations.

It will fit fine, I've done it many times.

Gordon thank you for the needed information about fitment with the Coupe. May I ask are they available in polished form? I was on the Borla site and did not see this. Reason I ask I came across a video on Youtube labeled "Chris's Beatiful Custom Borla Stack 427 on Dyno". It was made by a company named Prestige Motorsports I believe. The engine was gorgeous. Yellow isn't my color of choice but I could not help but notice the stack assembly was all polished and beautiful. I wasn't sure if that was something available from Borla directly or just this business with final prep work.

Here is a worth while read. Be sure you know what you are getting in to. Yeah, they fit. Yeah, they look great. Yeah it’s expensive.
Are there better options? Pretty sure there are. I’ve read many stories where guys don’t understand and are not happy with the end results.
Read!

Good article, I want the look so bad. I can be realistic though. Even factory five commented in a video that he has "wasted " a lot of money on them and trying to get them to work well. Which he got flamed for and retracted a bit. One day in the future we will be able to have the look and performance of 8 stack. Though I think it will actually be basically a four barrel set up with the other four stacks not actually flowing. That or electronic computer (shared manifold) controlled throttle blades that open and close faster than a human could do and monitored by the computer... computers will make them possible in the future. At least that is my thought...feel free to ignore.

I have had very good luck with stack systems and properly matched components. There many pics and a couple dyno vids of stack powered cars on the FB page. If you pic the right system witha good programmable ecu and a correctly designed cam you can make great power and have great drivability.

I agree. The 8 stacks look great. If you design the engine correctly, they can be tuned to run really well, and make a lot of torque and HP.
BUT... like Gordon said, you have to properly match the components, and learn how to tune them. For example, if you don't have a synchronometer, it will never run right. It can be a rather steep learning curve.

Thanks Gordon for the vote of confidence. The article was a good read and I can see their point about the original 8 stack Webber’s for racing and not getting the right fuel air ration at lower RPMs. I can also see the added benefit of the EFI system atomizing the fuel more on entry and seems like this is definitely a subject worth exploring more. I want to hash out who would be building an engine for me and with what components. Might also be worth a call to Borla as well and see what their stake in the debate is. I would assume they must sell these systems to folks who want to street their cars more and take it to shows. Just like that video I posted above from Prestige Motorsports. Thanks all for the input and thanks to the original poster to this thread because I had the exact same question. Can an 8 stack Borla be good for street and the occasional auto cross.

Love reading all of these messages. So, the picture I added has the Speedmaster one, sells four about 2300 minus the computer, etc.... anything wrong with that one?

And in your experience where does the Speedmaster system fail against Borla, Inglese or Hillborn.
I played around with sidedraft Webers as a kid with British cars. I never could get them to be streetable. Race car or WOT, yes. But not a city/suburb sled in stop-and-go traffic. They do look cool. To this day. nothing looked more bad-a$$ than those tall individual runner stacks of the old Can-Am Series.

I have my own cams we designed for EFI combos that work great. As far as quality on some discount systems, it comes down to casting, machining and parts quality.
