Good afternoon All,
New to the forum, just ordered my stage one Factory Five 33 HotRod. I have a delivery date of June 2021. I have been watching Factory Five for the last ten years and have planned to build a kit car some time. Well, that time is now. In preparation for the build I have started working on my drivetrain:
Remanufactured Stock LQ4 Engine
4L60e Transmission
Ford 8.8 Solid Axle w/3.27 Gears
I have been researching here on the forum and am very impressed with the amount of knowledge and experience that exist. I look forward to interacting with everyone and sharing the details of my build as it proceeds.

Congratulations, your are in the biggest and most vibrant Factory Five community anywhere - including the Wareham, Massachusetts area, but of course I'm biased. ;)
Before the Dark Times, I used to organize Autocross events, cruises to San Diego, etc., When things normalize I'll do it again, and of course you are invited, completed car or not! ;)

So where in SoCal are you located? I'm building a Gen I '33 out in Simi Valley and am available for telephone or email communications whenever (send me a PM for contact info). And when the Covid plague passes, you are welcome to visit my garage for beer and bench racing (building?). Welcome to the madness!

Hello progmgr1 I am in the Los Angeles area. Are you going to register your build when it is completed? I only ask because I am and I am trying to identify things that need to be done early on in the build to meet registration requirements. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the welcome.

Good morning lewma, I see in your post that you registered your Mk4 here in California. I am planning to register my 33 when complete. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Mike, type this into a google search bar:
thefactoryfiveforum.com: sb100 spcn
That will return a ton of threads on the topic.
Ask any questions you have, and if you want to chat by phone for a bit to help you get you bearings let me know.

Mike,
Yes, I am building my '33 for use as a daily driver and will register it. As Mr. Hodgkins says (and BTW, pay attention to everything he says), there are numerous good threads on the Forum about registering a car in CA under SB100. Basically all you need to do this early in your build is to keep track of your receipts. There are a few other '33 builders in SoCal who have already registered their cars, and lots of Roadsters / Coupes registered - so you're traveling a well worn path.
I would also suggest that you read through a bunch of build threads. Start with Gen II Hot Rods, but also look at Gen I Hot Rod, Roadster and Coupe builds (edwardb is a good place to start), particularly those using the same engine/trans/rear end as you are planning to use. There is a ton of good information out there and most custom ideas you have and problems you will face have all been seen before. Also feel free to post your questions on this Forum - it's a very supportive and responsive community.
