Greetings all,
I just signed up. I have been lurking around on the forums for a few years now. I have enjoyed reading all the build posts on many of the models in the different threads. I have been following the Type 65 Coupes a bit close because I am trying to coerce my wife into letting me purchase one. My wife of course likes the cobras and the husband of a friend of hers has a Superformance model. Sorry for mentioning that brand in an FF forum. :D Anyway I like the community of builders here and look forward to posting some of my Kit ordering/building questions in the appropriate sub forums soon.

Thank you all in advance and have a great afternoon.

We are down in Springfield. Thanks for the welcome. I may have to pick your brain later how the licensing and registration of one of these works for Illinois. I have never built a kit car so would be an all new experience for me.

Welcome Aboard & Thank You For Protecting Our Great Nation!

Also, check out Edwardb'sDaytona build thread because all of his builds are fantastic and his documentation really supplements the manual.

He's likely the best hobbyist builder on the forum.

I grew up in the Roberts/Thawville area...110 miles North East of you. Yes will be happy to share what needs to be done and my experiences. It's a pretty easy process just takes 7 to 14 weeks. Mine was about 14 weeks and others on the forum had it go as fast as 7. And that was before COVID. Hopefully it will be mostly over by the time you are ready to make that happen. PM me when you are ready to talk.

Welcome to the Forum. I'm between yourself and Steve here in Verona, about 10 miles south of Morris. Just in the final stages of the 9735 Roadster build prior to going to paint hopefully soon. Would gladly help on any questions if I can. Jim

Welcome! Another Illinoisan!

I wouldn't overthink the title/registration if you buy direct from FFR. I had a hell of a time with the process as I bought a partial build. That is where things will get sticky in Illinois but made it thru. One thing to make sure you have on your radar is taxes. You'll have to pay the state taxes soon after you take possession of the kit or they will surprise you with penalties.

This forum and it's members are a great source of information of all kinds. It's very rare that you won't be able to find an answer on any topic surrounding the build. Personally I found searching easier by just googling "Factory Five" then topic.

Welcome from Wheaton! Just to add to Nuhale's search comment, here's a trick I learned: type "site:thefactoryfiveforum.com search items" into google (where "search items" is what you're seeking) and it will find those search items in this forum. Hope it helps. Best of luck with your build!

Thanks again all for the welcome! Thank you nuhale for the taxes info on the kit purchase in Illinois. All great information. Also thank you to Al_C for that bit of helpful information on faster searches on the forum. I will definitely say I have been doing more old school methods and just clicking each page and eyeballing the thread subjects.

Also is there a way to edit your "About Me" page or profile picture? I think when I hurriedly signed up for the forums I just put a single sentence random statement that I guess could be a little more informative. I can't seem to change that.

I think you have to have a minimum number of post to have access to your profile to edit it. I think it is 25? I know if you have ordered a kit the moderators sometime open it up for you early.

The way to edit is up at the top right of the screen there are the words Settings and My Profile. Those let you add Avatars, signature lines etc.
