Question about a new to me Mk3 built in 2007. The clip fasteners that act as the nuts for side body attachment bolts are rusted. I'd like to replace the clips/nuts and examine and inspect the frame attachments for any rust.

If the side fasteners and front and rear bolts are removed, could the body be raised a couple of inched to access the frame attachments? And what's a good source for new clips/nuts?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

They're called speed nuts and you can buy them in stainless steel.

Thanks, did not know that! Any thoughts on accessing the frame side?

Sorry no, just like you I'm a bit of a newbie as well.

I'm sure somebody will chime in, there's a very helpful community here.

I'm in Canada so I don't know exactly where in the US you would go to buy stainless steel speed nuts...maybe McMaster-Carr? This is where Google is your friend. :)

You're right, now that I know what to call them, Google has them everywhere! Doh!

Just undo the side bolts and pull the body out a bit.

Thanks Micheal, hopefully that will give me a good enough look at the frame parts without trying to lift the body.
