The more I look at the original cars, the more I appreciate my Factory Five!
Thanks for sharing Papa Dave!

Here here! I agree. As cool as the originals are, the modern representations just look so much more sporty in my mind.

I do agree! I love those CSX's and I wouldn't turn one down if I had that kind of money, but to have lived this experience in building your dream and to have it modern as well? Yeah, I'll take the one I'm building all day long! I must add that I do love that color though - hmmm...

That's a nice car...... but I'm into my car for about 3% of that original and, to use a Shelby idiom, "I think it's finer than frog fur."

I agree as well, I don't like the look of some of the originals. Factory Five and others have done a great job tweaking the body a bit to dapperly house our wheels.
Reviving an old thread, but this car is going to auctioned on Friday by MECUM. Should bring some good money.

Is it just me or is this car sold, or at least offered for sale, more frequently than any other Cobra?

There are few street 427, non SC cars out there that are not treated as "investments" by their affluent owners. Most make the purchase because they see the "shiny bauble" dangled in front of them and just have to have them. Then they realize that the car is not what they expected it to be, not in condition, but in drive ability, or if they do choose to drive it, then not as comfortable as their more modern cars. Let's face it, we see it with the replicas as well, so no surprise it happens at the very upper level of our hobby as well.
As for this car, it's finally reached the point of being properly restored and presented. If I was the lucky buyer/owner, I would actually drive it, as I plan to do with my recently unearthed concourse restored, but not driven for 20+ years 70 Shelby convertible....The trick of course is to make the car safe for the road, just not "correct in appearance. In this cars case, both of those items appear to have been addressed.
Finally, for those who had a limited, perhaps outdated view above, do not be intimidated by the dollar amount a car is worth, instead, remember, without them, your dream, or the car in your garage, might not exist. Relish the history of where they came from, drool if you like, but always respect your cars "elders"..........
