102 miles, 87 mins..Not bad for an old guy in an Intrepid.:D
Drove in at 9am just as David Smith was pulling in.
Said our hellos. Walked in and Jason Lavigne happenned to be the poor soul who was stuck with me for the next 2.5 hours.
I'd like to say a few words about him. Now I'm pretty sure that he's given many people a tour of FFR but this guy was special.
Treated me like family and showed me all the different aspects of FFR down to each station the cars go thru in assembly.
Answered all my questions and bottom line you couldn't ask for better.
David Smith: Don't ever lose that guy. He's a gem.
I saw all the cars there but when we walked into a room and sitting there was the Mk4 roadster with the Coyote engine my heart just said "This is the one"
The pics don't do it justice. Beautiful red and that motor was made to sit in the front of that car.
I mean grabbed my heart almost like the day I held my first child. Yea, that impressive.
Of course then there was the coupe in the showroom that also reached out to me.
Choices, choices and all this one day after I find out that a little project I went to help out back in 2006 and stayed with it is starting to pay off in HUGE amounts of $$
Sometimes you do wind up in the right place at the right time.
I grabbed some pics and remember, I'm no great photographer but I hope you enjoy them.
David: Thanks for having me down and Jason thank you for your hospitality.

No, because now all I can think of is how to get David Smith to sell me that Coyote powered Mk4..:D

He may not sell you that exact one - but one just like it can be yours; along with the pride of having made it your own. I didn't see the factory until the day I arrived to pick-up 7074, and I'm sure that if I had seen it years earlier, I wouldn't have waited as long as I did to buy my first kit (yeah, there'll be more - especially if they bring the 289-style body to market).

Your absolutely correct BUT there's another viewpoint.
When you see something that is built by talented people who in all probability did the build better than you ever could and is EXACTLY to your taste then you( at least me) have to weigh the value of being able to say "I built it" versus knowing that it's built "right"
Could I build a car from the kit? Yes, I think so.
Spent many years modding cars but again that was back in the 60's-70's.
The skills are still there but a lot of the muscle and energy levels have dropped way off.
I can remember putting almost 400lbs on my shoulder in the 70's
If I tried that today you'd find me buried underneath that weight!:D

Well - I bet the guys down at Whitby's would be delighted to build one exactly like it. Worth a call - they do great work!

Agreed, but I'm 90 mins northwest of FFR and Whitby's what? 1000 miles south of them, so then you have to add in the cost of sending the kit down there and then getting it back..
Anyway sort of a moot point, earliest I'll be buying is February-March..
Maybe David would be interested in selling by then..:)
