Hey everyone, hope you’re having a great weekend. I’m about to install my fuel pump and pushed on the fuel sock. It’s somewhat stable but not very confidence inspiring. A hard tug pulled it off. I realize the suction will pull it toward the pump, but is there any concern it will come off or any moves to be made to give me peace of mind it won’t come off??

Mine was popping off every time I tried to navigate the insertion of the pump hanger and believe I bent one of the metal tabs slightly to get a more confident union. Of course I haven't taken a peek to see if it's still on inside the tank. I suppose I could always remove the sender unit and run a borescope down there.

The way that sock is designed to mount, it takes a pretty solid push to get it seated, and you'll have a very hard time getting it back off. Something isn't right. No way it should be falling off or expect it to stay in place with suction or whatever. Maybe the tabs are bent as suggested.

I agree, something isn't right. They are had to get on and need a small flat pry bar or screwdriver to remove.
