Hi everyone, happy new year.
I have a quick question for my sanity. Putting together my oil pressure sender setup (speed hut FFR vintage gauges), my oil pressure sender in the box is a three wire type like this https://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/600/Pressure-Sensor---100-psi-(Revolution-and-Legacy) that has signal (white), ground (black) and 5v reference (red).
However, I was expecting more something like the two pole one https://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/product/603/Resistive-Pressure-Sensor---100-psi,-240-33-Ohms-(Speedhut-Line).
I assume I need to grab one of the two pole pressure sensors since I am using a simple two wire hookup to the gauge.
thanks all
Michael

Speedhut made a change from the 2-wire resistive type sender to the 3-wire powered sender. As I understand from several sources, based on quality issues with the 2-wire sender. Many on here can attest to that. Your oil pressure gauge and cable should have matching 3-wire connections. The gauges are different. So don't mix senders until confirming what you have. This first came up some months ago, and neither Factory Five or Speedhut instructions had caught up with the change at that time. So you may not be able to confirm from those.
I will do my best to not confuse you on this, I ran into the same problem. You can definitely use the three wire sending unit with the supplied Speedhut oil pressure gauge.
If you are not running oil temp gauge the green/yellow wire off the oil pressure connection needs to be cut and connected to the light blue oil temp wire (This will create the proper 5v signal to the oil pressure gauge). The sending unit wires to sending unit need to be black to black, white to light blue, red to grey. If you hook it up and the gauge pegs itself to max pressure the 5v signal was not done properly.
Clear as mud?

Hopefully my post didn't cause any confusion. If the gauge set came with the newer 3-wire sending unit then the gauge itself should also have the proper wiring and be the 3-wire version. They are not interchangeable. 2-wire = pressure reported in ohms (resistance). 3-wire = pressure reported in volts. Hence the third 5V reference wire.
