Yep, We've Got To Love Those Electric Cars Because The Government Told Us So!

> We also get to love the landscapes given to us by the strip mining used to get lithium, cobalt, copper & other minerals.
> Any water pollution that occurs as runoff from the exposed earth will really enhance our streams & rivers don't you think?

Okay, I'm Done & Getting Off My Soap Box!

Start from the premise that cars are awesome. Oil and gasoline smell good, engines make glorious noise, pulling a g in a turn feels great, sports cars look sexy, and driving is freedom. Have fun eating kale on the bus, Commie. F=MA=KX; all else follows; as should be intuitively obvious to the casual observer. (adapted from another forum member whose name I don't remember)

That said, I could imagine building a Type 65 with a Tesla donor...was that sacrilegious:rolleyes:?

That's great, a plan to change 1,000,000 homes to all electric heat at the same time we de-comissioned Pilgrim Nuclear on 5-31-19. I did a back of the napkin calc and it would take 800 or so of current offshore windmills to equal its power output.
On the bright side they did a big expansion to the natural gas electric plant in our town and paid a large chunk of cash up front to the town for the privilege.

You mean something like Cape Wind Mark? Hmmm... wonder why that project died...

If I remember correctly, there were a bunch of people who objected to windmills offshore from Hyannis. I think the Kennedy family might have been among them...
According to this plan, those would be just the start. btw progmgr1- I don't like Kale, either.

Glad I moved out of MA. I use to live in Pembroke which is about 20 miles from the Plymouth nuke plant.
I can just see it now, the wind stops blowing and it’s night, no sun....no power and lots of peeps are up in arms.
Cape Wind had too many lawsuits against it, probably backed by the Kennedy’s and other on MV and Nantucket.
Speaking of pollution you should see what’s used (toxic gasses and poisonous chemicals) in the production of solar cells and how 100’s KW’s are required to make them.
I’ll stick with petroleum.
Here in NM the (current) state government want’s to do away with oil and natural gas production by 2035, meanwhile NM gets 35% of its money from taxes on oil and gas.

GoDadGo, thanks for the use of your soapbox.

I removed a portion from my original post where I stated that the "Evil Oil Companies Saved The Whales" so with that said:

>..I agree that moving to "FLOW-Da" and suggesting Factory Five move there is a wonderful political statement.
>..I just hope "FLOW-Da" doesn't get destroyed as people make similar political statements by moving there too.

No, I don't watch Football But Watch Racing Instead!

Not sure why everyone feels the need to insult the state of Massachusetts . Some of us Live here because we want to, our families are here and there are
Good people here.

Is it perfect? Nope.

We could poke holes in everyone’s paradise.

If you don’t like it here stay away. Pretty simple.

Also, I can’t speak for Dave. But it seems unlikely he would spend millions of dollars on his property only to move away.

Seems like a silly suggestion.

Factory Five is a responsible and forward thinking member of the world community. Their entire factory is solar powered. It would not surprise me if they were already developing an electric car or conversion kit. And Factory Five certainly won't be the first. https://www.musclecarsandtrucks.com/superformance-teases-new-electric-shelby-cobra-replica/.
I for one would give it a serious look.

Well said, Ron! I'm responding here because I had posted on this thread earlier, so I'm probably lumped in the "insult" category. Can't help that. Personally, I like Massachusetts. I grew up in CT and still have family there and in Mass. I actually had hoped my employer was going to relocate me there (we were headquartered in Boston), but that never happened.

My opinion is, and this is what I was trying to communicate, that the state has an uphill battle if they want to have an offshore wind farm. I think wind power is a decent idea and there are lots of windmills out here in the Illinois farm lands. However, there are a lot of deep-pocketed folks living on the Mass shore line (e.g. Cape Cod) who don't agree with that assessment and would rather not see windmills out on the water. This topic will no doubt end up in court. What I do believe is that you'll see more renewable energy similar to Factory Five's solar project. There are many, many smart business people in Massachusetts who will look for any cost benefit that translates to competitive advantage. (I believe FFR is a good example here...)

All that said, I still don't like Kale.

I'm sure that I'm the guy that Ticked You All Off because:

1. I'm good at that sort of thing.
2. I make a living to be good at that sort of thing.
3. It is because I work with sarcasm like an artist who works with oils.

Anyway Gents, I meant you all no harm nor wanted to offend you guys but it blows me away when the Government decides what we should say, own, drive, do, etc, etc, etc.

Steve

NOTE:...I won't be visiting any states that don't honor my Conceal Carry Permit so you won't see me in Massachusetts, Illinois, California, Oregon, New York, New Jersey or Maryland unless I'm there on business.
.............I will visit Hawaii since that is where my beloved wife is from so I'll make an exception for her.

There's no way they can build the energy infrastructure to support that goal by then.
