I am about to order a complete Roadster kit that my son and I plan to build before he heads off to college. After a lot of thought and looking at many manufacturers, I think FF5 is the best option for me. Hoping the build school opens again soon.

My biggest concern now is being able to title and register the car. I live in NJ and have a vacation home in Vermont. After reading numerous threads and online research, I am not sure it is worth it to try in NJ and am confused by the Vermont laws. The only advantage I may have is I will be using a Windsor block from 1969. This may help with emissions. I really wanted to title it as a 1965. I don't think that is feasible. Would I be better off just buying a used car that I can modify and or repair?

All advice is welcome.

Thanks!

Vermont is very easy, ten years ago and I don't think it's changed. Took me twenty minutes with the proper verification and numbers. I did this way before the car was built. In fact, I just put the body on 10 years later and it's now on the road in gel coat. No nothing until you then need to have it inspected, which is basic brakes and lights and insurance and probably a few more items. You'll be out of inspection time so you can then get another temporary sticker to then get it inspected. Of course, you'll have to pay the tag fee every year until it's done. It will be registered as a '65 Shelby replica. My registration says: '65 Shel Rep.

The guy who bought my roadster is near Burlington and he had an easy time registering it. It was even registered as a ‘65 when I had it registered as a ‘16 as that is ME register when the car was built. Based on this, I vote VT.
