Has anyone else had this issue. I received a quote from Grundy for my MKIV. The quote was for a FFR Roadster. The quote was $290/yr. Obviously there are some stipulations but I was willing to live with them. I sent all the paperwork in to include my check and now they say since it is not an original 1965, my rate is $590/yr. First, I never asked for rates for a 1965 Cobra, I asked for rates for a Factory Five Roadster, which is a replica of the 1965 Cobra. Second, why would rates for an original 1965 Cobra be lower than a replica car? I could replace my car for around $50,000. To replace, or more like repair an original would be monumental. This does not make sense to me.

I'm with Grundy as a "1965 Factory Five Roadster" at agreed upon value of $60k. My premium is roughly the same as your first quote

They know exactly what an FFR Roadster is. The other quote is probably lower because no one drives an original Cobra on the street. Unless you have money to burn.

I’ve called Grundy twice today and got the same answer, if it is a replica car it does not qualify for the lower rates. Don’t shoot the messenger but I’d call them to confirm.

I have Grundy on a couple of cars. They get mixed up too easily. On a previous premium notice on one car they billed me for both cars. Took too much explaining, IMO to get that straightened out.
I mean they really act like no one is home.
I would ask for the agent that wrote the policy. Sometimes mine made some sense.
