I am building my own modular dash for my MK4. Right now the gauge pods are hardboard, but will be wood veneer. I also made my own 1" deep glovebox since I have a heater. Any issues on the layout?

But I do have a question with mounting placement. If I mount the dash with 3/16" of hoop exposed on left and right as Jeff has indicated, the top of the dash barely touches the bottom of the hoop. My hoop seems to have a larger curve than others I have seen. See picture.

Also note that the steering column is at the top of the hole.

So my question is, do I leave it as is and hope the body cowl covers the tube, or do I raise the dash and trim both sides so the hoop is still exposed left and right?

The body is in a different building so not easy to place body unless there is no other option.

Thanks.

I also have a modular dash. Do what Jeff says. Mine came out the same way as yours. With the body on you can not see the 3/4" curved tube. Your question was exactly what I asked Jeff too. I did weld L brackets on the back side of my dash so that there are no mounting points are showing from the front. I used 3 #8-32 Button head bolts from the top of the 3/4" tube to secure it. Center, left and right. I also did a hard mount on my grab handle right to the 2" tube behind the dash.
I can send you a few photos in a bit.

Perfect. Thank you. Do you gave a pic with body on yet? I am curious as to how far it covers.

Thanks to all again.

My issue was the body radius does not match the modular dash radius so the far left side is right at the body line. Something only i have noticed but.......139497
