I installed the 95 Mustang ABS, per the original posts by Greg M over on the other forum. He was an amazing amount of help, and went above and beyond to get me through the initial install. I was meticulous in making sure that the wires went to the correct locations, even if it's not the neatest wiring out there! When I reached first start back in July, I was certain that I got the series of clicks from the control unit, but I'm not sure that the dash light flashed on when I turned on the key, (I was too freaked out about the first start, and wasn't paying that close of attention).

Now, I can't get the light to come on with the key, and flipping the switch to put it into diagnostic mode doesn't seem to work either. I double checked my wiring, and everything seems to be in order. Now the system sat for a few years before I got to first start. It was plumbed, bled, and the brakes were functioning. Does anyone know if the controller could have gone bad during that time, and that is why I seeing these issues? Or, is it more likely that the LED bulb fixture, (one of the dash light units from FFR), maybe is not working? I got kind of disgusted with this problem and quit working on the problem before I had the opportunity to test the bulb. Ran continuity tests on the individual wires, and there doesn't seem to be any disconnects anywhere.

If anyone who has done this system, or has a possible solution, I'd really appreciate the help. This is the very last thing before I put it together for license, registration, and paint.

I have a 2008 GT500 module. Not fully tested to make sure it all functions properly yet b/c I'm still building. But, I bought a ODB2 Scan tool that had an ABS bleed option. Mine is wired into the CAN +/- of my coyote control pack. I can actuate the ABS unit via the tool so I know it works from that perspective.

Not sure if the 95 unit has that capability?

I think mine is a 98 version and I had the light issue too due to a wiring error on my part so this may not help. I had the light grounded thinking the ABS was putting out the +12V but that was not the case. The ABS grounds that input to turn on the light. When I ran the ignition +12V through the light to the ABS it started working.

Hacksaw, I don't think my version has that capability. Put that part together so long ago, I'm lucky they had invented ABS back then!

2bking, I thought that I may have screwed up the wiring, but the light has 12v power from the fuse box on one side, and the dark green wire from the ABS unit on the other. The switch that puts it into diagnostic mode has that same dark green wire to one side, and the orange/white wire from the ABS unit on the other. At this point it's either the dash light is bad, or the control unit has seized up. I can deal with the first, don't know that I could deal with the second!

Thanks guys.

not sure i agree with you wiring for the diagnostic switch. The dark green from the abs is a switched ground - only ground when calling for the light.

The diagnostic orange needs to be grounded on power up to put it in diagnostic - not by using the switched ground dark green wire (not sure it would actually be a ground then)

frd2, Well if I have it wrong, it wouldn't be the the first time I've managed to screw up a wiring project! With the dark green wire(s) coming off the ABS pump, they merge into one wire to be split again when they reach the dash. I know one leg goes to the indicator light, and the other leg goes to one side of the switch that puts the unit into diagnostic mode. The other side of the light is then wired to the fuse panel with a 5A fuse to receive 12V power at start up. I assumed that this allowed the light to illuminate for a few seconds on start-up, and then extinguish if it self checks OK. The switch, according to Greg's wiring diagram, gets the orange/white wire from the ABS pump to the other side. If the dark green wire is a ground, then I figured that the orange/white provided the signal to flash the fault codes. Again, what I know and understand about the electrical would make for the shortest book ever written!

If you are using Greg’s wiring then don’t quote me. I hate holiday inn expresses.

Thanks Ray. Probably more than I will ever know!

ooh that's cool - I have the same setup - can you PM me your details on the ABS bleed option? :)
