My kit is nearing completion and the ship date is around the corner. While I have been waiting for this day I have been contemplating the passenger side roll hoop. I ultimately want something that is practical to remove (for the only reason being I like the classic look with DS only). The idea would be to use the PS when I have a passenger and remove it when I don’t. I am imagining using tube mounted to a body colored plug with grommet when the roll hoop is not installed. The tube would mount to the chassis in the same manner as the roll hoop.

I am looking for ideas. Has anyone else done this? How practical is it to actually remove and install the roll hoop as needed.

Thanks In advance.

It can be done but I'm guessing that the pain of putting it on and taking it off when giving rides will become annoying and it will become a permanent fixture. You will have to take the rear wheel off to unbolt the outer base as well. I've seen one of the parts suppliers offering some blank bezels. Just the possibility of scratching the paint when on/off gives me the willys.

Just try not to go upside down and will be all good!

I didn't want any roll bars until I saw these videos just before I ordered my kit back in 2015:

Now I have two, but I do understand the love for that classic look of the single roll bar.

I’ve been planning this as well. There are caps to fill the holes made for this purpose, but I can’t remember the vendor. If you want to have an instructor go with you at the track you’ll need to the passenger roll bar too. I would think the trunk wall could be modified to give access to the back support leg, so you wouldn’t have to remove the wheel.

Those roll bars don't come out that easy. I had mine out to change the seals it didn't come out without some force. Plus like mentioned the chance of scratch damage.
