I finally broke down and took the truck to local shop for new exhaust. I really did not like the sound of the supplied mufflers and the others I tried. Also did not like the mufflers right under the cab due to sound and clearance. We ran 2.5" with X pipe to rear of cab. Put Flowmasters there angled up to go over the rear end and dumped over the top. Sounds awesome! Much more of a deep rumble as opposed to the kind of tinny sound it had before. And made it a lot quieter as well. Was already bearable do to all the heat and sound I used but really is an enjoyable ride now :)

How hard was running the X pipe? I was debating of either the gen3 hemi or the voodoo engine if I wanted to do something different. I have a GT350 currently and I love the sound. If you have any pictures I would love to see how you did it!

I meant to take some pics while up on the rack but got sidetracked and forgot. It was pretty simple. I guess its really an H-pipe as opposed to X-pipe. Think the X would be doable but would be pretty permanent. Just had them put H in middle under floor and I put a flange in middle of that so I can remove when having to work on it without cutting things apart. Used the Flowmaster/FX mufflers which really sound great. Would have liked to go to 3" but would have affected clearance in a number of places. Maybe I'll do an oval pipe somewhere down the road :)

Thanks for the input! I will definitely look into it when I do mine. I am just happy to hear it can be done. If I end up doing the voodoo engine, I would need the X pipe for it to sound good.

Yea I could not believe the difference just putting the H in mine. Huge!

Great post, I was thinking the same, no H pipe, sounds like two 4 cylinders fighting each other :-)
