Hey Gang,

This is not political at all so No Chevy Fans Were Harmed in the making of this video, but it shows the effectiveness of wearing a simple surgical mask.
While the methods displayed are a bit silly, this somewhat Comical Covid Test shows how the reduction in airflow is impacted by wearing a surgical mask.
I'm sending this out because my dear pal Ernie Chassaniol is in the hospital with COVID-19 and he never wore a mask unless he was painting something.

https://youtu.be/x6cTDGqcUpA

Ernie, his wife Sandy and their youngest son Danny thought wearing a mask to prevent the spread wasn't necessary, but now all three have the Wu-Flu.
In addition, you guys don't know Ernie, but it was at his shop in my home town of Slidell Louisiana where The Redbone Roadster got its War Paint
Any prayers you all can send their way will be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Hope Ernie and his family have a speedy recovery Steve! I wear a mask every day at work and while I'm out, but I do think that if the correct mask is not worn, which most are not, or is worn correctly, which most do not, then its a false sense of security. My wife wears triple masks, as funny as that sounds, but true. She constantly washes her hands to the point that her hands started cracking from the constant alcohol exposure, and she rarely goes anywhere. and yet, she still contracted the virus. We don't know exactly where, but it was confirmed through testing and then an anti-body test, which she now donates plasma to help others. Luckily her harshest symptom was only achy legs.

I believe that this virus is like the flu in terms of eradication. We can do our best with somewhat targeted vaccines, but it will never be perfect and ensure that the cure does not kill the patient, as there are many with much more harsh issues and dysfunctions as a a result of the lock downs versus the virus.

Again, I hope everyone stays healthy and thoughts out to Ernie and family.

CV,

I look totally stupid because wear m 3-M Respirator when I go into any big box store.
It keeps my glasses from fogging up plus folks that see me run for the hills when I walk into places like Walmart or Home Depot.
I think it's an effective method of keeping the air I breathe clean plus I do my best impression of James Earl Jones (Darth Vadar) while I'm out & about.

Nothing is 100% perfect, masks, sanitizer, washing hands etc. Doing as much as you reasonably can obviously lowers risk but there is always more you can do. Reducing your risk of contracting the virus being just one step. This is a good time to take a look in the mirror and ask yourself what can you do to be healthier? It doesn't need to be a lot but if you make just one small change every day you can incrementally improve your odds of avoiding contracting, or heaven forbid, surviving the virus. Exercise more, even if it's parking at the far end of the parking lot and walking a few more steps, consider your diet, eliminate things that are known to impact your immune system such as high fructose corn syrup, make sure that you are not deficient in vitamin D, consider taking a vitamin supplement containing zinc. You don't need to go crazy over this stuff but take the opportunity to educate yourself and make a commitment to the person in the mirror to improve your health. Only you are accountable for taking care of yourself. If you only rely on taking advice or direction from others (MSM, politicians etc) to protect yourself then in my opinion you are not doing enough.

I had Covid back in early June. I work from home and at that time probably left the house only once or twice a week. I wore a mask, used hand sanitizer or washed hands and still contracted the virus. I couldn't tell you where I contracted it. I thought I was safe. Others I know who have had Covid had very similar experiences. From my perspective if you feel you are gong to be safe from contracting the virus by wearing a mask etc you are fooling yourself.

Amen Mike N, Amen!

You Make Great & Valid Points!
My son in law to be contracted COVID from one of his staff members in April.
They were all masked up where they work yet most caught The China Virus.
Sorry, you caught the crud, but I am glad you recovered.

So it shows that WHEN you have Corona you should wear a mask to prevent spreading, but if you have COVID WTF are you doing outside??? And when you are coughing/sneezing, do it in your elbow... FFS.

Wearing a mask DOES NOT prevent you getting it, at best it prevents an infected person spreading it.... which is sort of shown in this vid.

I agree 100% because a cloth, simple surgical, or even an N95 mask only reduces airflow which in turn May reduce the spread if you have The China Virus.
Only wearing a proper respirator will you have a chance to keep The VID from getting into your respiratory system if you are hanging out with Typhoid Mary or Covid Conner.

I guess I never realized how many mouth breathers there are in this country but based on the number of people is see wearing masks only over their mouths and not their noses it apparently is a high percentage of the population. I'm not a mask zealot and don't buy into the whole thing but wear one when going into a store or other public places (not so much for my self but as a courtesy and to avoid getting the stink eye from those who happen to believe in it) however when I see these mouth breathers it takes all of the restraint I can muster to not walk up to them and say "You're a Moron! Why even bother?"

Oh, by the way...I've been an Uncle Rob follower for years :D

I like the Swiss cheese analogy; Each measure (mask, wash, distance, vaccine, etc.) is another slice. No one slice is enough, but stack more of them for best effect.
And, asymptomatic carriers can spread the virus- that and it works both ways is why the guidance is for everyone to wear a mask, and distance, and wash, and use good judgement.

I dropped by Dependable Paint & Body today and guess who was there checking on his guys?

Yep, Ernie was there checking out how his sons and Sammy have been doing since he's been out with COVID-19.
My feeling is Ernie will be retiring soon, at least partially since he's nearing 70, but he can see that his sons have really stepped up.
They've always been a great team, but from my perspective, they are stronger than ever and working harder than ever.

Thank You All For Praying For My Pal & His Family!

My pal is back in the hospital and will hopefully be on the mend again.
After appearing to be a long-haul Covid-19 case, he is now dealing with Leukemia.
Hopefully, he can get past this issue too; however, the next few months will be tough.
If you guys and gals can spare a prayer to two, my buddy Ernie Chassaniol could really use them.

My best friend passed away last month. Never had Covid or any illness. He developed Leukemia within 48 hours of getting his second Covid vaccination, and died within 2 weeks. This is some crazy stuff! I'll be praying for your friend.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's passing.
Crazy Stuff! is definitely an understatement.
Though Ernie never got vaccinated, it really seems like getting COVID triggered the Leukemia.
Again, sorry about your friend.

Ernies is now undergoing CHEMO for Leukemia and Lymphoma so please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

His sons tell me he is not a candidate for a bone marrow transplant.

Any prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Earlier this morning Ernie lost his battle with Leukemia.
..He simply couldn't handle the Chemo after Covid-19.

We first met Ernie when my brother had an accident when an elderly lady sideswiped his car. It was an old lady who was probably too old to drive but nobody got hurt so it was a pretty good day. The accident made the front page of our local newspaper because my brother's car nearly ended up in Ernie's shop so it was funny, to say the least.

That was 40 years ago so here is the rest of the story:

The significance of that meeting changed our lives. You see my brother Bernard had just been diagnosed with cancer of the lymph system and was given a 50/50 chance of surviving. My father told Ernie he wanted his son's car repaired, even though it likely should have been totaled. Ernie skillfully repaired the car and did a complete paint job on it so that Bernard would have his beloved Hot Rod Lincoln, a Crazy Souped-Up Lowered Mark-5 Model Sitting BFG 295/50-15's, that was far from your Grandfather's favorite cruiser.

Ernie has been a friend of our entire family ever since and he's repaired every ding and dent while making more than a few of them cooler than cool.

Steve-

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, as well as the loss to Ernie's family! It can be extremely difficult to say goodbye to an old friend, and doubly so to one who has had the impact upon your family as he did.

May you find peace, and surround yourself with only the good memories of your time with him. Again, I am truly sorry!

Regards,

Steve

We all know that "Nobody Survives Life" except for one very famous fellow known to us all as our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

Ernie married his childhood hood sweetheart and raised two fine sons, both are now in their 40's.
I know his wife Sandy and his son's Brian and Danny have got to be totally devastated along with Ernie's three grandsons.
Sammy, who has been working for Ernie for 30-Plus years is more like his third son, was with Ernie's family when he passed.

Thank you all for praying for my pal.

Ernie has played an integral part of Baby Go-Dad's Journey into the land of subtle but classic customizing too.
Shown below was my son's car when it was touched by Ernie & Sammy after a fellow backed into my boy's beloved Camaro:

https://youtu.be/A5WUZgl6N5Q

If you notice, the nose badge was removed and dimple skillfully filled and smoothed for a little less is more custom touch.
Though insurance work is the bulk of what his little shop does, oftentimes custom bikes were painted there as well.
