So I have had about 2 days of work on my rig ( marked and pulled aluminum. Drilled and cleco'd F panel. Started trying out different brushing techniques for my aluminum) and while finishing the brakes install and rear end I got anti seize everywhere! Gonna have to be more mindful of that stuff. Pic for your time...

The stuff is evil. I now use a pair of disposable gloves for my hands and a Q-tip to apply it. I then wrap the Q-tip in my gloves while I'm pulling them off and put directly into the trash can. Somehow, I'll find anti-seize in my hair. I can't explain it.

Really good idea using a q tip and disposing of it.

I hate that stuff. I still have a tiny tube of it but it hasn't been used in quite a few years. Synthetic wheel bearing grease is so much easier to deal with.

I think that stuff multiplies when it touches air.
It acts like a Gremlin if you feed him after dark.
Actually, it is more line an S.T.D. because it truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

When we installed the new front end and engine in my 68 C-10 swb, I used the anti-seize in a stick. Kinda like lipstick for the bolts. Mush cleaner, and easier to control. I used the copper that Blueprint engines recommended. Love the stuff. May start brushing my tooth with it. Mike

While many have found the negative side of anti-seize, there are some positives. My father drove a school bus and a certain student kept opening the emergency door while he was driving. Having no luck catching the kid, my dad coated the bottom of the emergency door handle with anti-seize. When the sheriff took the kid off the bus, his hands and the top of his jeans were coated with it. Problem solved. I too have found it in my hair, on furniture ( I swear, I changed my clothes), and many other unexpected places.

In the Oilfield we would put that ant-seize or pipe dope in the inside head band of the hard hats of the green hands. They would not notice and when the toke off the hat it would leave a mark across the forehead. Lol

Wait until you install the carpet with outdoor carpet cement. That stuff gets everywhere and shows up instantly against the black carpet. :-(

If you’re ever in need of a substitute plain milk of magnesia is the trick... deep the hardware in it and done and the stuff to use for very high temp solution.

???? anti seize really only needs to be used on stainless bolts and nuts and aluminum threaded items. Not sure where you're putting it to have it all over stuff?

What are you guys using anti seize for? I have used the stuff literally for decades and have never had the problems being mentioned here. The shop I worked in got it in fairly large bottles with an applicator brush. All of the techs have one in their tool boxes and I have never seen the mess talked about here.

I wouldnt use a Q tip they leave fine threads behind. Use a small Acid brush.

Ian, You must be in the office! Lol
I only used anti-seize on my header bolts and spark plugs, and very sparingly in those applications.
Same here as Papa, I also did use a dab on the foot box cover rivnut bolts because they went into the powder coater and I did not want them to seize up.

Not sure if you're kidding or not Craig but I've found wheel bearing grease worse than anti seize - damn stuff gets EVERYWHERE.....

I think the doctors could use anti-seize to demonstrate the transmission of germs.
Just a thought to brighten your day.

Great idea Jim1855! I tell my nurses and techs to wash their hands all of the time and not pick their noses. I should leave a dab of anti seize on the controls of the CT scanner and see what happens...
