View Full Version : Front fender clearance

So I finally got one front fender installed and found I had about 1" of clearance from top of tire to fender bottom. This is with the Gen1 suspension, FFR supplied shock and one step heavier in spring rate. I have the adjustment collar way up as well. The 15" tires are a bit taller than FFR recommends, 15" tire sizes are getting hard to find and I don't want to change wheels.

Fender location is as high as I can go and still give some clearance to the headlight.

I wonder if anyone has tried a longer bodied shock/spring to help solve this problem?

I saw somewhere on the forum (didn't save a link) that the full fenders interfere with the headlights if they're mounted in the stock position. I made brackets to move the headlight buckets up a couple of inches to avoid that problem whenever I finally get around to installing the fenders. I suggest at least 2" clearance between the tire and fender when the car is on the ground.

bike fenders or full fenders with running boards? My bracket had two holes in each. The higher one for fenders. They clear my bike fenders just fine.

Full fenders with running boards. No brackets, they bolt to bodywork and the engine side cover in somewhat undefined locations. I'll probably make some brackets to help support them, as I've already done for the running boards. Keith

The instructions from FFR calls for a starting clearance of 2.5" between the tire and fender and then they suggest adjusting the ride-height slightly lower only after several runs to make sure the tires don't hit the fenders.
