I got tired of the exposed parts for the stock parking brake mechanism that came on my 3.1. Today I made up two small panels to shield the exposed parts from road debris. I rivited inner tube rubber strips to the edges of the panels. The front panel has a slight bend in it and is rivited to the upright part of the floor panel. The lower panel is rivited to the bottom of the floor panel. The rubber strips press against the side of the tranny. These should shield the mechanism nicely.

I'll try to post some pictures below.

Will that shield interfere with the drain plug in the Tranny. I didn't realize this would be an issue, interesting. Thanks for sharing.

No interfere with drainplug. Notice that the part near the plug is flexible rubbe,r and easily pushed out of the way. Also, the aluminum is flexible to a certain extent.

Probably only an issue for us anal guys that don't have enough to do.
