Using #2 fan trigger wire on PF4 for temp warning light

The Pro Flo 4 has the capability to run two separate cooling fans, I am only using one fan on my build. You can set each fan to come on at individual temperatures, I would like to use the #2 fan trigger wire to turn on LED light to warn/alert me the temperature is at a preset value (my plan was to set around 210). This #2 wire is set up to be used on a relay to complete the ground circuit, my question is could i just wire the #2 trigger wire to the negative wire on the LED light and run the hot on the light to 12v ignition source? My thought was the #2 trigger wire would complete the ground and turn on the light. This would be much more simple than running a relay for a small LED light.

I'm sure that would work fine. The LED bulb is certainly less amps than a relay.

Turns out I needed to use a relay, for some reason when running the LED right off the #2 trigger it would turn it on immediately once the ECU was turned on. My guess is there is a very slight ground happening that would trigger the LED. With the relay I can now adjust the warning temperature and the light will come on at that set temperature. I guess you could call it a true idiot light:D
