Hi all, somehow this nylon lock nut got stripped by the factory. It just spins in place. I tried using vice grips with plenty of pull to back it out but it did not grab. Any suggestions on how to get this out without damaging the body? Thanks in advance!

I'd cut the bolt off carefully flush with the nut, the drill the rest out.

Use a adrenal with cut off wheel and cut the bolt flush with the body. If you happen to touch the body no worries; the parking light will cover the entire raised pad.

Have you tried to simultaneously spin the bolt while pulling on the nut?

Worth a shot before you go to the cutting stage.

Also a nut splitter?

I like the nut splitter / bolt cutter idea best. This is a small bolt and nut and would be easy to cut. The nut splitter is just quicker...

Must be an issue with these nuts, same nut was stripped on mine when it showed up.

Mine was same way,Die grinder with cut off wheel on the bolt head from the inside.Take your time no big deal just an inconvenience.

A cut off wheel in a die grinder or a drill motor will have that off in about 60 seconds.

I find that for small stuff holding the wheel parallel with the bolt, and 90* to the body surface gives a smaller chance damage to the body.

Thanks all! Appreciate the help. I cut it off from the back side as suggested. The hot nut fell into the fake grass and started melting it haha

Cheers,
Matt
