Well - been driving a bunch since the need to get out of the house is pretty large - and it has been perfect weather in Alabama .. Anyway with time on my hands I decided that I finally had enough of :

1. reaching through my driver's side window to pop open the door
2. Having to explain to my passenger where their door release is - too much black I guess in the car and it's a bit hidden from direct view as it is in front of the window mount (stock should be behind - fun to be the Beta)
3. Having to get out of the car to let a passenger into the car - since there is no way they are going to reach through the window and I certainly cannot reach the release from the seated position.

Sooooo..... I added some weight to the car :)

Basically added door popper to both doors - both sides on Key Fob release. The Passenger Side has an additional button (wired) release that is on the Driver's side - so now I can pop the door open for pax - will be nice for London Cobra show.

I have only finished the passenger side since that one was the more complicated of the 2... will finish the driver's side tonight...

Very nice. The little things make a big difference.
Can you share what brand of poppers you used?

I used the same kit on a pickup truck, wish the fob had different labels.

yes me too.. that's the only annoying thing... so much so after the first test - I called the wife out to check it out and it didn't work - went all the way through all the wiring and connections - only to find out I had already forgotten which button was the passenger side - and I had been pressing the wrong one ..... and no I hadn't been drinking - YET! :)

I build those in right from the start for all the reasons you mentioned. Not a feature too many people expect on a "kitcar" at car shows. You'll enjoy this new found luxury!

Erik,
Quite interesting and perfect timing for my build. I noticed at Amazon that there were basically two JDMSpeed 2-door popper kits - New 80 lb. 2-Door Popper kit and New Shaved 85 lb. 2-Door Popper kit.
did you buy either of these? If so which one?

Got done at work - decided to finish up - remote button finished up and the Driver's side all done - I should have done this from day 1 I think.... Should make it a little easier to give some E-Ticket rides. So now what to work on....hmmmm..... more boost ??

That’s really cool Erik! Do you think those would work on the 818S?

Hi Erik,
Your detail is great, especially the military theme.
I like the flexibility the door poppers offer. My build is a Gen 2 Coupe.
I planned for poppers about 3 years ago and had some design conditions I wanted my installation to meet. Since you brought up the poppers I thought I would share how I solved my puzzle.
1 I wanted to be able to open the passenger door while I was in the driver seat as well. I decided to hang the fob on the key chain. The fob button is easily accessible for me.
2. I wanted the popper solenoid to be accessible for replacement, if necessary, without removing the door. An upholstered, removable door card hides the solenoid and helps to dampen the actuating noise.
I used 1/4" brake line to guide the actuating cable from the popper to the latch.
Anyway, following are a couple of pics on my install.

Great work guys!
I built door poppers in from the start, but there’s always room for improvement. I used a couple of pulleys to guide the cable but I’m certainly going to adopt the brake line approach. A driver-side switch for the passenger door is a great idea but I wonder about accidentally triggering it while in motion. Maybe there’s something I can use as an interlock from the speedo, or maybe the transmission’s neutral switch.

I got the brake line idea by staring at my 50-yr old Peugeot 10 Speed and seeing the cable guides.
