Last week was out enjoying our summer like temps in November to wrap up our driving season. Started hearing the passenger side pipe popping under deceleration, popped the hood and sure enough my #1 cylinder header pipe is cracked all the way around at the outer edge of the weld/1/8” from the flange, just as many before.
Who has had success repairing this by welding?
I’ll be taking to someone as I’m not a welder, any tips or suggestions on what has worked or not worked?

I was running exhaust hangers with one bolt on the side pipe flange, left loose enough to allow movement. Engine is a carbed 302, never had any concerns about it running lean. I picked up headers with my kit in Feb 2017, car on the road since May 2018, 5500 miles.

Weld failed in the heat effected zone. Should be fixable but may fail again at some point for the same reason it failed the first time. A good welder should be able to TIG weld that and make it look good.

Both of my 4 into 4s cracked in the same location. I welded the first header that cracked and it cracked again. I am buying a new set. I did get a lot of race miles out of them for sure.
