Hi,
Does anybody have experience with RCR replica's and in particular the GT40 kit?
Quality, company, build support, responsiveness etc.
Just dreaming right now.
Thanks,
John

That’s my next project.. loads of people over at GT40s.com including some FFR builders
I had an RCR40 Deluxe Kit....the monocoque aluminum chassis is a work of art. Take the time to visit Fran at RCR in Michigan. You will be extremely impressed.
It is a challenging build and takes a lot of thought and some fabrication if you want to do it right. Building my FFR 289FIA was an easy build in comparison.
Unfortunately, someone came along before I was finished and offered me the right money and I sold it...and I regret the sale every day!

Zots,
Like the GTM I hear that the transaxle is an expensive part. What is your experience there and how did you make your choice?
Thank you,
John

I build a GTD40 back in late 80’s and it was great but looking back it was pretty basic (but still far ahead of KVA and Tornado). Tornado have come a long way since, so if in UK I would take a look. I may still visit Active Power. But RCR are by far the best quality (I can afford) for sure. Beautifully made and never heard anything against them except delivery time. Allow a year! Superformance are out of my budget..

The guys that own RCN magazine have a couple of RCR GT40 chassis for sale, including transaxles -- ready now, no wait. Just saying, you might want to chase that lead if you're serious about one and don't like the lead times.
Cheers, John

Interesting, I thought they only had GTR's for sale (Ford GT replicas). I see those posted all the time.

I don't see them on the classifieds. Is that an "in the know" deal only?
Thanks,
John

Apologies; I may have been mistaken about what they are looking to sell -- I just remember seeing the ads for two rolling chassis and transaxles before the print magazine wound down. (I miss that one, by the way.)
