View Full Version : Don't understand the radiator assembly instructions for the delux version

So I'm trying the build the grill, insert, radiator, and mounting hardware. The instructions don't make much sense as it says the grill should have holes where it doesn't, and I am supposed to use those to line up the radiator to drill holes in the tabs of the radiator. I can't even tell how to mount the grill to the fiberglass nose.

Might someone have colored pictures or a video of how to build this process?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

the A/C and radiator bolt (screw) to the grill then mount as a unit; then the cowl goes on after mounting.

The A/C brackets (4), radiator, and two hood hinge brackets (in that order) stack onto the grill - two screws (or studs) on each corner
It was a difficult task for me to get everything aligned - I recommend using a drill press for the grill holes (they must all be parallel), and installing studs to build the stack.

Thanks for the response, but here's my issues:

1. I don't have tabs on my grill, so I don't have anything to make a template to drill on the radiator.137823137824

2. DoI need #5 part from the drawing if I don't have a hood (deluxe nose version)?137825

And there's no holes in the deluxe grill, how am I supposed to know where to attached the grill to the deluxe fiberglass nose or any of the other mounting points?

I don't have that style grill, but I agree there should be tabs so you can assemble everything. If you are not using a hood you do not need, and should have, the hinges. You might want to reach out to FFR directly and see what they have to say about this.

Found this on the FFR site, in the parts section under instructions - for the '33 but the truck should be the same:

After I posted the link I went back and read these instructions, wow - these are WAY different than the normal grill assembly! I can see now why you were so confused!

Wow, that was quick! Looks great too. As I recall, mine took several weeks, I got so frustrated with it I had to walk away a couple of times. Probably one of the more difficult tasks so far for me on this build.
