If you ever pull into a parking space and go just a bit too far forward and hook the oil cooler over the edge of the concrete curb..........slide a fork truck under the chassis rails and lifting it vertically will extract you from your predicament, and at the same time provides amusement for the bystanders.

A friend dropped the nose into a small ditch. Did a great imitation of a backhoe when he backed out of the spot. Real tuff on paint & glass.

I've started backing into any spot with a parking block or curb!

I've done similar, but hooked the body itself on the parking spot concrete stop. Fortunately my wife was in the car, so I was able to put car in neutral while she controlled the emergency brake. I got out and went to the front of the car and lifted while pushing the car back. We unhooked ourselves and lived another day.

The cars are so short that even if you stop well back from concrete stop, you are still well within the space. You will also be more visible to someone pulling into a space they think is empty because your car is in so far.

First time taking my wife out in the car, I pulled too far into a spot and boogered up the paint under the nose. :(
Ah well. This car was built to be driven, and while I'm going to do my best to prevent it, its going to get some road rash over time.

A typical parking lot space is 18-19 ft long. Your car is 13 ft long. Stop pulling in so far

You all can leave your a$$ end near the rear of the spot if you like that, but I prefer to pull up far into the spot to get my car tucked in there as tight as I can. But mistakes happen sometimes. :)

Parking spaces in New Zealand are somewhat smaller than the US as we don't have the large vehicles that you guys do, but you are correct, it was my fault.
