View Full Version : Coyote Engine Shroud Dressup

Hey all, I'm currently speaking with American Car Craft to see if they would create a version of their Coyote engine shroud (https://americancarcraft.com/products/2015-2017-mustang-light-up-engine-shroud-cover) without the Mustang logo on the side— I think it'd be a really nice option to add a little bling to the otherwise boring engine cover. Curious if others would be interested in a generic (no logo) version so we could show them some demand?

The kit does include internal LED lighting which might be a little too much for some, but you can leave it disconnected and still get a nice color band to coordinate with your paint scheme (5 colors available). Thoughts?

Also interested if anyone else has found other similar/nice options? I know there are a ton of options for valve covers, but haven't seen much in terms of dressing up the intake manifold area— other than a supercharger ;)

YES! That looks great!

Need someone to make one for a Gen III with coil covers too.

I have been a big advocate of the coyote. But Honestly, they have gotten expensive, more complicated to wire, and without the dress up they are as ugly as the old 4.6's.

Too bad Ford has ignored the aftermarket lately.

But the cover you show there is very nice I am sure they would sell if people know they exist.

Good news— they got back to me and are fabricating me one sans Mustang logo for the same price. I’ll take pictures and let you know how it looks!

Did you ever get the shroud? I would be interested in seeing how it looks if you get a chance to post pictures.
Thanks,
James

I do have it, but haven't had a chance to install it yet. Happy to take a picture of it pre-install if you want. Just let me know.

No rush - it would be great to see a photo once you get it installed. Thanks

As promised— images attached. Jury is still out. The build quality is absolutely stunning, but I feel like it sticks out a bit like a sore thumb without the valve covers similarly treated— they do also make some valve covers that compliment it, so I think those would be a must-have.

For me personally I think it almost looks too nice for a Coupe in racing livery, but I think it would look absolutely sick in the hot rod or truck (probably the same for a Coupe or Roadster where a lot of time was spent chroming and tucking the engine compartment). But I must say the build quality and polishing are absolutely stunning.

What do you think?

Beautiful work. Too much stainless, IMO. Maybe cover with blue painters tape and take a photo from about 6 feet to get the effect of a color. Nice work.

Yeah that's not a bad idea. A blue stripe on each side might be really cool— break it up a bit. Keep in mind there are actually blue LEDs that run along the edge which would add a little color, but accent lights like that don't seem right in a Coupe or Roadster IMO so I didn't hook them up. I guess I could put them on a power supply just to try it for ****s and giggles.

I wonder if a satin powder coat would do some good. I like the overall look and shape though

I think there is a plasticoat that is removable. It comes in diff colors and might help decide what looks best, remove and paint or powder coat for a more permanent finish.

I like the stainless look. I think the red "Mustang" on the original helps break thinks up. I wonder if adding some blue lettering like "Ford" or "Coyote" in a similar fashion would help. Could experiment with some custom vinyl lettering which you can get from any boat graphics company for pretty cheap.

Do they make 1 for the Gen 3 ?

So while I wasn't super happy with the look of the stainless shroud cover (again, a great product, just not the style I was going for), I have to say my latest purchase is 100% awesome in my opinion. Cammer style coil covers from Ansen (https://www.ansenvalvecovers.com/collections/coil-covers/products/ford-mustang-5-0l-coyote-cammer-style-coil-covers-black-powder-coat)

Here's my next crazy idea....

What about an engine cover that looks like velocity stack intakes? :D And rather than it being entirely fake, it's actually functional in that it bends around and connects to the throttle body? So basically it'd be an intake that mounts on top of the engine and has 8 small velocity stacks for inlets. I'm sure there are a thousand reasons why it would be problematic, but it's cool to ponder :D I've actually looked at upgrading to real velocity stacks through Jim Inglese, but he doesn't offer it in a drive-by-wire setup and I don't really feel like adding a hard linkage.

Jim,
Thanks for the link to the cammer style coil covers.
So I went to the Ansen site and checked them out, it looks like they are blank where you have the Ford Script, did that come with or did you get that extra or at another place?

thanks,
Nevin

I just received the ansen cammer with “Ford” logo as well. They came out great. They charge $20 or so to mill it. They also back paint it to match. Very happy. I made a dress up using a oval cobra air cleaner cover. Painting the cover to match exterior. Should be ready to share pics in next 2 weeks.
