Hey all, just wanted to post an update to an earlier thread— https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?36097-Grant-3025-Quick-Release-Hub (created a new thread because the old title is somewhat invalid now). To recap, the goal was to find a quick-release steering hub that required little to no fabrication (including welding). I thought the Grant 3025 would be the solution, but I could not for the life of me find one in stock (I suspect it might be discontinued).

So I went with the NRG SRK-174H Short Hub (http://www.getnrg.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=687) and can confirm that it is a precise and snug fit on the FFR supplied "Double-D" steering shaft. You mount it just as if it were a direct replacement to the FFR supplied hub, and then bolt on any other NRG quick release kit. I went the same direction as others and used the slim quick release kit http://www.getnrg.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1039. No welding or modification to the steering shaft or hub required.

If you want to stick with the FFR supplied wheel, you will still need to modify the steering wheel to fit with the hole pattern on the quick release itself, but it's just one set of holes and easy to do.

If you wanted to go completely fabrication-free with a similar wheel you could pair it with one of NRG's wood grain vintage wheels— http://www.getnrg.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=155_162 — or any other wheel for that matter besides the impossible to find Motolita 6-bolt pattern on the stock wheel. I considered it, but figured $100+ was worth saving in exchange for drilling 6 holes, so I modified the FFR wheel.

Anyway, I hope that helps with another option for those who are looking at a quick-release setup with minimal or zero (depending on steering wheel) fabrication or modification.
