Is there a different motor mount for the 427 Engine? It seems my engine sits very high and barely in the slot with no way to get it down in the front in order to level the engine. Even with spacers under my transmission, the angle is still down in the rear.

All Windsors use the same mounts. Sure you have them on the correct sides?

A Blue Print 427 is a 351W based block so as long as you specified 351W motor mounts in your build you should be covered. Some choose to discard the supplied FFR motor mounts and go with a solid motor mount which is a 1" to 1.5" lower. I used the FFR mounts and found no problem.

I found it hard to get the engine down and lower in the mounts to get it straight and as low as possible. At a certain point, beating on the mounts with a small sledgehammer and a piece of wood couldn't move it any further down. I ended up making a small fixture/ tool that allowed me to pull the mount further down easily without having to beat on it, and it allowed me to access the big nut to lock it in place once I was happy with the position. I'll post pics if there is any interest for that.

That would be great thanks.

Based on the pin that sits in the slot, one under the bolt and one to the rear of the bolt I did not think you could bolt them in wrong. Is that correct?

Steve,
351W is on my order form, how do you determine that is what I got? Is there a difference in height?

You don't really want the engine/trans level. You want it to point down about 4-5*. Notice that the carb pad on the intake manifold is not parallel to the intake flange, it points up in the rear about 5* or so. You want that to be somewhat close to level.
Then be sure and check pinion angle.

Appreciate it, will check that.

Here are some pics of my little tool. I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of the big nut, and screwed in a piece of threaded rod. The threads of the big nut keeps it from sliding off the motor mount bolt. Work it from below to pull the engine down, then tighten the motor mount nut from above when you are happy with the position. You might wanna line the threaded hole in the bar so as not to damage the fine threads there.. Or you could take a piece of steel bar and drill a hole in it to use instead.

i also have the blueprint 427 (351 block) and i had to grind a little bit of the engine casting to get mine to sit down in the mounts correctly

That is not the point I am concerned about, where the mounts attach to the frame it is at the very top and my engine seems to be high in the engine compartment. Do you have any pictures showing a) the engine mount at the frame.
b) Where your air filter is in reference to the top rails or rear of engine at the firewall. My e:mail: Hilly003@aol.com
Thanks

FWIW, directions from my painter who has done 900+ Cobras told me if you have a 351 Windsor block to buy Gordon Levy mounts, they lower the engine down to make side pipe alignment easier and give you a little more clearance for air cleaner. I actually was planning on using the FFR energy mounts. I had no issues installing my engine with the Gordon Levy mounts, they are $65.

I too have a 427W, and solved the engine height issue w/a pair of '89 Mustang 5.0 Convertible engine mounts from AZ.
