Has anyone installed the mustang brakrs on the current IRS and using the 11.65 rotors so the 15 inch rims work.
This is the setup I've got with my kit and very disappointed in how the e-brake cable is suppose to fit the caliper. It interferes with one of the bracket bolts and also against the bracket preventing the caliper from free floating. Also the only routing of the cable puts a 180 turn with about a 3 inch radius on the cable comming out of the caliper.
If anyone has this setup and been successful with it could you help out.
Thanks
Dave

Yes, this is what I have and I managed to do it with no extra parts or upgrades. The standard set up is exactly like you described, but with a little fiddling i was able to make it - both the 180 turn and fitting over the bracket bolt. What exactly is the issue you are struggling with?

I've abandoned the furnished cables and picked up a set of cut your own. Alot more flexible and a smaller end that fits into the tab. Probably make it work, but for such a really good engineer car the whole brake kit seems not up to par. I guess I'm somewhat concerned with the cable end not allowing the caliper to free float. I dont use an e-brake much and if I get it to work for state inspection and pass, probably just take the cables off for my peace of mind.
Like you reservoir set up. Did the same 3 but cut the mounting tabs off and taped a thread in the back of the bracket for mounting.
How do you like the Eagles? They sure fill out the car very nice. I've heard they dart around at highrt speeds?

Yeah, the default brakes are OK for some basic street driving, but not much else. Not sure what you mean by “caliper free float”, but in our case there was an issue (which is pretty common) for caliper not returning properly due to a weak spring. Is this what you mean? As other threads suggest, makes sense to install another spring at the end of a cable to add some additional force.
The tires are actually Mickey Thompson that FFR sells, I just added stickers. MT tires are fine for street driving, I wouldn’t take them to a track

When I refer to free floating, maybe not the correct term, where the caliper has the ability to move horizontally. I think this is why its mounted on the bracket with the 2 studs that you grease and have the little boots on the end. Maybe if the rotar is warped some or not running true. With that cable end up againt the mounting bracket it would prevent the caliper from moving and then the brakes would pulse with the piston moving in and out instead of the caliper moving.
Thanks for the tip with the spring. Im guessing between the tab and the parking brake lever where the cable hooks up would be the place for the spring?

For "piece of mind" you are not going to have an emergency or PARKING brake? Please reconsider. I have only ever used the emergency brake function once. But I always use a parking brake.
I have personally seen several cars (4 or 5) roll away from people parking and not setting the brake. One was a FFR that smashed into a parked car at a hotel. Another FFR almost rolled off the end of a ferry. I didn't see this one, but a lady I know that lived on a hill ended up with her car halfway in someone's living room. She's lucky it didn't kill someone.
