I have the Speed Hut gauges. I wired the gauge hands to come on with the ignition switch. I wired the back lights through the Speed Hut dimmer.
I will start by re reading the instructions. I did have back lights when I completed the wiring.
I have tried the headlight dimmer to make sure it was at the bright setting. Still no gauge lights.
Wondering if anyone has had common issues related to this problem?

Check your headlight switch dimmer. It will turn off the gauge lights when fully dimmed.

Edit: Never mind, I see you have already tried that.

That little box with the gauges is an inverter. It puts out 100volts AC. Check the output with a multi-meter. I had one go bad, but after several years.

If it is bad, Speedhut has good customer service.

You mentioned the headlight dimmer. Did you attempt to wire the gauge lights so that they can be dimmed by twisting the headlight knob? If so, that's your problem. That won't work. The inverter box should have its own little knob that is the dimmer for the gauges.

I did source the power from the gauge dimmer on the headlight switch to the inverter box with knob. I thought I had read, it works, but you have to keep it at max setting.

Wired per the manual, the gauge needles will light when the lights are turned on and do not dim. The headlight dimmer will actually not dim the gauge backlight, but can turn them off if turned full clockwise. Turn the headlight dimmer knob full counter-clockwise and then use the Speedhut AC dimmer to dim the gauge backlighting.

I have the vintage gauges. The headlight switch has too much resistance to get the LEDs to light. I used a high precision 1k potentiometer (pot) to control mine. There was no need to use any special "LED" controller. A 1k ohm pot will do fine, but you loose some control and it gets sensitive. I ended up with a 10-turn precision pot and it works great. I used a second one to control the curtesy lights.

Thanks for the advise. I had gauge lights when I wired it. My gauge hands, (needles) are not an issue.
I will have to do some testing before I can comment on what might be going on.
