I sent this question to FFR 2 months ago (Aug 9!), but they won't answer, so I suspect it's all a little unknown. But I can't wait any longer, so I thought I'd ask here!

I received a new Gen2 body, to fit on Gen1 chassis #997 - obviously, the chassis has evolved over the years, so I want to check a few things. I have compared my original manual 2R with the new 3G.

I think I can/should use the Gen2 body/door fitting instructions entirely, but let me know if some allowance has to be made for my Gen1 chassis anywhere. For example:
Is it ok to use the provided aluminum template and instructions for door hinge holes, or should I still use the 2R instructions for marking the hinge slots?
Same for latch aluminum templates - still ok to use?
I got the Gen2 inner door frames - obviously very different. But previously I had bought a Gen1 power window kit from someone selling a roof - will this still work?

I thought #3 would be a simple 'no', so I'll assume that and see what needs to be modified when/if I get there (I won't install any windows before I get this on the road).

And for #1/#2, I'll just use the new templates and see what happens - what's the worst that can happen? :D

The Gen 2 door hinges have a further spread to stiffen the doors while they are open, this really is going to be what affects your answer for all three questions because it makes the Gen 1 stuff and Gen 2 stuff not compatible. Changing the arm locations made the Gen 2 templates only work with Gen 2 hinges, and it means Gen 2 hinges don't fit with Gen 1 door frames. The main answer is you can use either setup but you have to use it in its entirety, so door frames, hinges, and slot locations in the body.
