So I have deviated from my original plan of engine turning the firewall pieces and will likely have these powdercoated gloss black. Question is can the two lower foot box aluminum pieces be removed/installed after the engine and trans is installed? LS with automatic trans. Looks like it would be pretty tight.
Thanks

Why are you going away from engine-turning? As you can tell, I'm a big fan:

Wish I could help with your other question, but I use different aluminum for the inner panel...

I too have an LS3 and auto. In looking at mine I think it could possibly be done but it depends I think on what you used to fasten the fire wall pieces to the chassis. I used 10-24 button heads and it looks like I could get an allen wrench in there to remove them. If you used rivets I don't think it could be done. Also, if you have the exhaust installed that may need to be removed.

And, if I recall those were not easy to get into position and for that reason alone may prevent you from getting these out with the engine mounted.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I am using 10-32 button heads so no rivet drilling. I know what you mean on fit, I have a tough time getting those panels in and out with out the engine in there! Have to hold it just right, rotate back and pivot around. I think it would be tough with engine in so I will be better off if I go ahead and get it all coated first. It is all drilled with the exception of a/c, heater lines, trans dipstick mount and firewall to body holes. I could always lay out where I want my firewall to body screws and drill 1/8 pilot holes in the aluminum before coating.
David, your engine turning is a work of art!
Thanks for the replies.
