We try to be as accommodating as we can in letting new members onto TheFactoryFiveForum.com. Sometime folks join who have something for sale, and I generally accommodate them if they want to create an thread for that purpose, because it is in the interest of our membership. What I have unfortunately discovered is that at least one person, SAM0001, has signed up and with 0 posts started PM'ing folks with parts for sale. And at least one member sent money and was ripped off.

Please, if you want to buy ANYTHING from a member on this forum, do a little research on them first. Do they have any posts? How many? What are the topics? Goes anyone know him and can vouch for him??

I do my best to "feel people out" before granting access to the classifieds but as we all know it is simple to sign up for the forum and there is no background check required to register! Please, PLEASE be careful when dealing with new members, especially if they have no posts at all and are operating VIA PM.

Dave,

Thanks for the heads-up!

On the other forum, we had the iTrader Feedback, which helped keep the honest people honest. Is that a functionality that would benefit the membership here?

Thanks,
Will

Not sure... I never used it. I'll look into it though.

If anyone has not done any dealings on other platforms such as Facebook Marketplace/Groups or other forums, the rules are as follow to prevent scams or loss of money

1. NEVER DO FACEBOOK OR PAYPAL FRIEND OR FAMILY PAY, VENMO OR CASH APP! Neither will protect you if you get scammed and you wont get your money back, the small % insurance is worth it through PayPal
2. Like David said, look through the profiles for legitimacy
3. If the deal is too good to be true, then it is, unless rule #1 and rule #2 are met
