I was looking around and I think the header tubes of the existing manifolds are too small. What headers will work on the 87 5.0 HO engine? I'm am new here and the more I dig the more questions I am coming up with on the car. Thanks, Mike
Mike , do you have stock headers with j pipes or 4 into 4 headers?

Stock header where 1.5", more than enough for a stock engine.

Looks to be stock, maybe turned around facing forward? They come out the front the snake over to the side pipes. I am learning here so please bare with me.

You may have the OEM Mustang headers, aftermarket Mustang Shorty headers or even Factory Five long tube 4 into 4 headers. As I mentioned in your question regarding the hood hinge a couple of underhood photos will help us answer many of your questions.
