Hood hinges on my new cobra, new to me..

Hi guys, I got my car home sat. Paperwork says mk3 but the hood hinge setup is wonky at best. 2 small hinges in the center of the hood then 2 struts or gas shocks on the sides. The hood wont stay up without a prop rod, Knew this before hand, and it has no hood locks. So??? what setup is on the car? All paperwork says mk3 kit built in 2006 I think, but what I'm reading is a mk 2 hinge located in the center of the hood??? Very flimsy setup at best. Also where and any pics of how to install the hood locks and where to get them? There is no metal on the area where the locks would catch. ?? Help. Thanks, Mike

Give us a photo of the hinge setup you have and we can tell what it is and hopefully advise you appropriately. The Factory Five scissor style was introduced prior to the Mk3 but even afterwards some builders modified Shell Valley hinges which feature arms that are closer to center. For that matter you may not actually have a Mk3 and again a few underhood photos will help determine that.

Just a hint: If in the event you have any paperwork, the early MK3's with 2005/2006 installation instructions for the hood hinge had photos that were backwards. Drove me nuts. Just look out for it!

Sounds like a Mark1-2 hinge to me. Are the plates that mount to the hood triangle shaped? If so probably not a Mark 3

Snap a picture of the steering shaft. If it exits the side of the foot box, it's older than a Mrk 3
