How much coolant for a BluePrint 347?

Hi all,

I emptied 2 gallons (7.6 liters) in the guts of my radiator and BluePrint 347 and it’s not full.
I need to buy more...Can someone tell me how much more I should get approx?
Just for the sake of discussion.

Other factors come into play, such as how large is your radiator and the lengths of your hoses. In my opinion, just top it off with water. The radiator fluid is probably already 50/50, if not and it's 100% Rad fluid, then topping off with water is just fine.

I initially filled my engine with water and now have 30 miles on the odometer. It's still fall and even in winter with the car in the garage it wouldn't freeze here in NC.

At the present time, I have the car up on jack stands finishing up some items for the last install of the body before paint early next year. I'm going to drain the engine and radiator and will collect the water to see how much it took to fill. Then make up the proper amount of a mix of 50/50 distilled water/anti-freeze and fill it up again.

During my first fill it took a while to get it fully filled. I'd get what looked like full then after a short go kart drive it would need more. Did this a few times till it would not take any more water. I also used a Lisle Spill-Free Funnel #24680 which made filling spill free and easy. Many different attachments for different radiator caps included.

Ya need to milk the rubber hose alot once the tank shows full. Find a decent spot in the hose and squeeze it numerous times. You will probably see the fluid level go down a bit. Just another technique!

I have a 289 small block, afco radiator provided in complete kit and heater core. I think i was right around 2 gal.

I had the same thing occur with my 347. If you're buying the premix stuff (which is a ripoff but more readily available), then another gallon will do I believe.

Oh, and do yourself a favor and"rent" a pressure tester from your local auto parts store. Napa rents one for free, charging you the full amount for the tool and refunding it when you bring it back. I found leaks at basically most major junctions but also found a small one at my heater hose return nipple on my water pump that would have been a bear to track down later.

It ended up at about 3.5 American gallons (26,5 liters).
And I « mooed » my rubber hose...Lol!
