Can not seem to get the squeal stopped, running 302 with serpentine March pulley system including the P/S , A/C. put water on the belt by the alternator / P/S and A/C pulleys all go quiet for a bit then right back. Alignment looks fine, any thoughts ?

Just throwing this out there.

This is assuming that the belt tension is correct and the belt is in good shape.

Check to make sure that all your pulley fasteners are tight. Just a few weeks ago there was a similar thread and it turned out that the fasteners securing the crank pulley had come loose.

I am surprised at how tight I had to get my serpentine belt. Mine was slipping, at first, and making a bunch of noise and heat of the alternator pulley.

Powermaster, the maker of my alternator, says to tighten the belt until you can turn the engine over while turning the alternator pulley nut in a clockwise direction.

It is now tight.

The other old standard technique is grab the belt between thumb and forefinger at the longest run between pulleys. Can you twist it 90 degrees? It's too loose if you can. As a Lexus tech we found that lubing the belt w/ SilGlide, a silicone grease in a toothpaste tube, worked well. Put a dab on each spot you can reach on the ribbed side, start it up and let it run for a bit to distribute the grease throughout all the pulleys.

BTW this stuff is great for a lot of uses. I always have a tube in my tool box. it's clear and it's silicone so won't damage any material. I also use it on home door latches.
