My last post mentioned I would have a question in the near future...here it is an hour or so later! The latest FFR Coyote installation instructions do not mention alignment of the computer bracket as in some prior instructions. It appears the Gen 3 computer's dimensions looks a bit different than prior versions. I have seen some posts on computer mounting for prior versions but do not seem to see anything on the Gen 3 mount. I did a mock up and clamped the bracket and computer in place and noticed that you can only go so far towards the vertical frame rail before you are unable to plug in to the computer. As I moved the bracket back, it appeared the L top side of the computer was a bit higher than the upper frame rail, which may be ok given the curvature of the R body fender area, although I am not certain. It also seems a bit "proud" horizontally but I think within reason. Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Gen 3 computer hitting the underside of the body. The bracket FFR provides seems to fit fairly well and is updated since it has 2 predrilled holes as opposed to 4 as in the past. Just want to make sure on bracket location before moving on or before trying to make a bracket since the one supplied seems good and is already powder coated! Thanks!
BTW, not sure how the photos got upside down as the were right side up before I uploaded them.
Your Gen 3 PCM looks a little different, but not that much different from my Gen 2. Your location looks good, even if it is upside down! The key is to put it where the bracket fits and you can still plug in the two connectors. In my mind, the connector fitting is more important than the bracket - you can always re-bend the bracket if you have to. But, like I said, it looks reasonable from here!

The Gen 3 Coyote PCM is significantly larger than the Gen 2. I've done both. Different suppliers (Gen 2 = Continental, Gen 3 = Bosch) and according to my friends at Ford, is more powerful and required due to the more complex Gen 3. I'm not sure why you have it that far back. I mounted mine so the connectors were on the other side of that cross piece you mentioned. I also see no reason put it under the footbox piece. If it does end up that far back, put it over the footbox piece. There's no hurry to mount the PCM. I'd recommend waiting until your engine is installed or at least mocked up. The connectors on the control pack harness can handle any location. But the harness off the front RH corner of the engine only has so much length and flexibility. I'd wait until you can check that fit before finalizing the PCM location. Plenty of room on the outside of the chassis there as long as you're behind the splash guard.

As EB stated, Wait until you have the engine in to get final placement, the length of the engine harness will dictate that. I had mine too far to the rear and had to drill out and move.

Thanks guys! Makes good sense. I plan on putting engine in to see where everything goes and how it all fits and may take it back out before a final install and hook up. There are two extremes, proceeding before thinking it out because you just want to do something and the other is “paralysis by analysis” where you do nothing because of overthinking! Thanks again!
