I was informed earlier this morning that fellow builder (#624) and friend Don Shapansky had passed yesterday. Don was the builder that opened up his shop to me and allowed me to ask ANY question I wanted to about the build...he got me started. We had had breakfast on several occasions and had seen each other at a few shows. Don was a great person, an inspiration and a good friend. The one time I road with Don in his 33, he took me out on a cool morning and the tires were a bit cool. Right out of the gate he goosed it to about 40mph, we spun out, did a 360 and ended up in the grass of the median. He looked at me and I looked at him, the car was still running and neither of us complained, so he slammed it into gear and we headed for breakfast! I'll never forget that! You will be missed my friend.

It always stinks when someone crosses the **********, we all know that nobody survises life, except for one fellow.

May You Rest In Peace Mr. Don, With Jesus Christ Our Lord & Savior!

Sorry for your loss Jamie. One thing you learn in life as you get older is that it's not about the sport/hobby/pursuit, it's the people we get to share them with.

The memory of your friend Don lives on in your build and heart, and the next ones they inspire.

Sending my heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers to Don's family and close friends, such as yourself, Jamie. Some amazing and beautiful souls exist on this forum. I think each person who takes the "Built Not Bought" challenge and mantra, exemplifies something truly genuine in their character and I suspect Don was one-of-them! May you all find peace, love and joy in the smiles and warm friendship he brought to those who were lucky to know him. May Don find comfort in God's grace and RIP forever...

Sorry I didn't see this before, as I usually read in the roadster section. I posted in "The Checkered Flag" section of this forum.
