Hey all. I had an appointment with the DMV today to register my MK4 in Orange County FL. After reading a few horror stories over the past couple of months regarding a new process here in Florida, I thought I'd add my experience.
I went to the Clarcona-Ocoee branch here in Orlando. I had the following:
1. Certificate of Origin from Factory Five
2. Florida form 82040
3. Proof of Insurance
4. Receipts for the kit, engine and transmission
I was literally out in 30 minutes with a copy of my title and tag. Registration will be here in a week. The guy that I had was new, and I made it a point to not say anything. I just gave him my docs and he went to work. He did have to verify something with his supervisor, but when all said and done, it was registered as a 1965/FACT. I wasn't asked for weight of the vehicle or verification of the VIN. The VIN used is what was on my Certificate of Origin, which was great.
I don't see my Certificate of Origin in my paperwork that was given back to me, so not sure if they had to keep that or if it just wasn't given back. I suppose I can get another one from FFR?
Anyhow, hope that helps any of you Floridians get your car registered. Because of the way it is registered, perhaps FFR has gotten with SEMA and the issue has been corrected where FFR was not in the system.
