Question for the group. I need to replace my catalytic converters but the current catalog shows a new part # and description. My version is part # 13456 for a 1987-1995 motor. Current parts catalog shows part # 14265 for 1996-2004. Does anybody know if the two parts are interchangeable or has there been a supersession from a design perspective. If there has been a substantive change are the old versions still available?

I considered installing CATS as part of my upgrades last winter and noticed the same thing. Called Factory Five and talked to the parts manager. They still have the old part number ones and he had no idea why they weren't listed. I think the price was the same as the ones listed. Try calling.

Heard back from FFR yesterday and it seems they have discontinued the cats for the 1987-1995 engines. I know that Mike Forte has a beautiful S.S. Header / cat combination available but my headers are fine and I really hate to replace perfectly fine headers if I don’t have to. Ultimately the issue I’m trying to address is that my car is coughing up pieces of honeycomb from the cat converter like they are hair balls and I don’t want to have that situation cause excess heat and back pressure due to a blockage of exhaust gasses. Also since my car is registered as a 1965 I don’t need the emissions help, and can live with a bit of extra noise so I’m wondering if I can live with the current situation. Can anybody tell me if running the existing cats will cause a problem with the engine that I need to be concerned with?
