I am newly registered to this forum and plan to build a Mark 4 using a complete kit. I live on Long Island (Suffolk County) and am searching out someone, preferably local, who might offer advice, knowledge, reading material, etc about the car and the build. I also am eager to experience a drive in a sorted example. As a retiree I now have time to focus on a proper build.

I just returned from a visit to the Wareham FFR factory site but was unable to test drive anything (thank you Covid).
I do plan to take the build course in Michigan and do as much research on my own beforehand, but book learning only covers so much.

Thanks in advance. ' Will buy lunch or beer to compensate for your time! I look forward to joining the community.

PMs welcome.

Welcome “Cutter”.
I’m in SW Florida but lived 50+ years in the Hudson Valley and spent a bunch of time on the Island in Holbrook and of course the LIE! Once this Covid stuff is over, my monthly trips to NY will resume.
I’m sure there are folks local to you that will reply. You’ll find as I have, that this is a friendly and helpful community of folks with a common interest and this is all really about the people we meet along the way.
Good luck with your project!
(We’re going to want to hear more of what you’re planning!)

Hey Mark, thanks for response. You are some traveler I see. Monthly trips to NY? Gee, it must be worth your while! That could get old real fast!
Regarding the camaraderie on the forum, I was somewhat active with the Speedsterowners.com group of Porsche 356 and 550 Spyder replica owners and found those guys a great bunch of car nuts, smart, helpful and very grounded in common sense and reality. I suspect FFR builders are every bit as passionate and cut from the same cloth. I guess I was just not ready for a 356 "replicar" at the time, beautiful as they are, but now I feel the urge to build something special. I was planning to visit Superformance to test drive their Caterham/Lotus 7 and a Cobra, but have not made that trip. Primarily I wanted to drive these things to see what they can do.
I was told their are many Cobra enthusiasts on Long Island who could be helpful but I am at the beginning of my reaching out.
Based on your bio at the bottom of your Email I gather you know the intimate details of Roadsters, so maybe you can share some tips to help me avoid some blunders. I am actually planning to visit family in Orlando next month and look around the West coast (Venice, Fort Myers area) for a possible rental for my wife and me to get away this Winter. Our prior next door neighbors relocated about 3 years ago to North Port, Fla, your neck of the woods. I will probably look them up too. ??Maybe I could buy you a beer and we could talk if plans work out? In the meantime I am reading up on the various options in drivetrain, brakes, headlights, seats, etc. Quite a bit to digest at first, but I think I can sort most of it out. Helpful advice is always valuable. And I know the guys at FFR are VERY knowledgeable and helpful.
I'll stop rambling. Thank you again for responding. I'll let you know when I am in town. Good luck with your "refresh".
