Been lurking a while, finally decided to register.
Like most I fell in love with the AC Cobra at a young age, and has been a 30 year bucket list item. So much so that I went to Barrett Jackson a few years ago with the sole purpose of seeing Carroll's personal car trade hands. What a site that was, literally goosebumps. Twin Paxton supercharged glory! While I will never own an original, I also embrace the future and technology so an FFR roadster is right up my alley. Some purists will hate, but it will definitely be a new school take on the classic. I am still not quite ready to get started, but hoping to within the next year. I have found this forum invaluable building knowledge before ever opening the first box.
I am a seasoned hobby motorsport enthusiast, more so drag racing in particular. Helped some friends build some insane cars, and had several pretty fast street cars myself. When the day finally comes even though it will be my first FFR build it will be very methodical, and particular. The build I liken to is EdwardB. The details!!! It will be full of technology as possible, but also stripped down to bare essentials. The dash will simply be bare except for a Holley digital dash display, and the minimum switches for ignition, lights, and turn signals. Will be a 427 small block just cuz have to keep some aspect of the 427 alive. Speaking of which the 427 in my tag has been a staple of any username or password I have ever had since I touched my first keyboard. Will be IRS for sure, and will in fact be the 3rd 2015+ IRS vehicle I've owned 2 of which were factory mustangs. One was Procharged to the tune of 800 rwhp. The engine management will be Holley, but not the basic sniper. Probably Terminator x max, or dominator as I'm familiar with both already. Will have a 4150 style throttle body simply for looks, but will be multiport fuel injection, with coil near plug and dual sync pickup distributor. I've considered the coyote, but after being around a ton they just don't sound like the iconic remembrance it should. In a perfect world a 427 cammer would be absolutely insane, even a 427 FE would be ideal. But realistically the small block based will be best suited.
I'll keep learning and investigating and being active on this forum and hopefully announce someday that I have one on order! When the day comes I will drive to MA to pick up just for the experience, and hopefully get a factory nickel tour. Will also do BPE package and pickup from there and also hopefully get some insight to that facility which is only about 4 hours from me.
I am in Wichita KS if anyone around wants to afford me the privilege to see theirs and spitball what makes them so cool.
I'd post some pics I took with Carroll's car, but can't post pics yet.
