So I was going to order my t56 for my gen 3 coupe build today and the shop asked if I wanted to change the gearing in 5th and 6th gears. He ran the numbers and suggested a .74 5th and .5 6th gear. With the 3.73 rear gearing and 315-30-18 tires he thinks it will work better. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Not expensive to do and I was wondering if the standard 6th gear could be better. Thoughts?
Thank you

Depends on what you want I guess. I have the same setup -- Gen 3 Coupe, Gen 3 Coyote, 3.73 gears, T-56 but with the .80 5th and .73 6th (standard TUET11010) version. 1,300+ miles. Very happy with it. I like the smooth spacing between 1.00 4th, .80 5th and .73 6th. The gears you're describing would increase the gap between 4th and 5th. And lower your RPM at 70 mph by about 500 rpm. From around 2,200 to 1,700. That's not insignificant and would perhaps be a bit quieter. But it's also not going to be very responsive. If you're going to be a bunch of highway cruising, maybe. Personally, I wouldn't.

It depends on where you're going to be driving the most. At 2,000 rpm, a 0.50 gear puts you at 81mph. A .64 gear puts you at about 64mph.
A coyote likes a higher rpm than a Windsor, too.

I have the same set up in my roadster with a gen 2 Coyote, 3.73, T-56 TUET11010 as Edwardb. I agree with Edwardb you will loose some responsiveness from 60mph to 80mph in 6th gear. I had 3.31 gears in it last year and didn't like the responsiveness of course my rpms at 80 went up some, but it was a trade off that I love. She's a blast with 3.73 in her now. But if you are going to do a lot of highway cruising it might be a way to go.
