I have this switch, which I'd like to use as an engine start switch:

Its rated to 35A. Would it be OK to wire this directly into the ignition wiring, or do I need to put in a relay in between?

It would be OK to use that switch, the starter solenoid doesn't draw that much current to activate. Wouldn't hurt to test the draw beforehand just to verify the current.

It can be wired in series to the "RUN" circuit of the ignition switch, that way the key will need to be in the RUN position, then pushing the START button will activate the starter.

I've had one of those same Cole Hersee push buttons installed without a relay for the past several years with no issues. Wired as Doc suggests. Works great.
